Our Story

Where History, Scenic Beauty, and Exceptional Fruit Wines Unite

At The Fort Wine Co., we craft more than just wine—we create a full-bodied experience steeped in local history, rooted in the rich soil of Glen Valley, and surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of British Columbia’s Fraser Valley. Located just minutes from the storied village of Fort Langley, our winery is a celebration of heritage, agriculture, and innovation.

A Legacy of Land & Flavour

Our story began with cranberries. What started as a family-run cranberry farm evolved in 2001 into a bold new vision: the first winery in BC producing exclusively non-grape wines. Today, we are proud to remain the only fruit winery in Fort Langley, offering 11 unique wines made from locally grown cranberries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, and pears.

Smoother and more vibrant than grape wines, our fruit wines are full of bold, refreshing flavour—without the dryness of tannins. We craft each bottle using fruit grown right here in BC, including cranberries from our own 10-acre farm. Thanks to our partnerships with local fruit farmers, every wine captures the fresh, natural taste of the Fraser Valley.

A Destination Like No Other

More than a winery, we’re a destination that blends rustic charm, local history, and immersive experiences. Surrounded by rolling cranberry fields with the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop, our estate reflects the essence of Fort Langley’s pioneering spirit. Historically, this land was a vital trade hub for First Nations and the Hudson’s Bay Company, with cranberries valued as “red gold” for their medicinal qualities.

Stay & Celebrate

Extend your experience by staying in one of our estate's rustic homes—the entire house will be yours. Perfect for a quiet weekend getaway, a private event, or simply enjoying the peaceful countryside, scenic views, and warm hospitality.

From weddings and harvest festivals to intimate wine tastings, our grounds come alive with celebration year-round. Each October, we host the Cranberry Harvest Festival, where visitors can wade into the bogs and witness the magical wet harvest—the sight of floating crimson berries, freed by our “eggbeater” water reels, is unforgettable.

Craftsmanship in Every Detail

Our wines are not only delicious—they’re beautiful. Each label features original artwork by local artists, making every bottle a piece of art. From signature table wines to luxurious ports, ice wines, and dessert wines—we showcase the full spectrum of what fruit wine can be. Not all fruit wines are sweet—our signatures are refreshingly off-dry and perfect for pairing with Pacific Northwest cuisine.

For those with a taste for sweet indulgence, our port-style and ice-style wines like Isle Queen (blackberry port) and Cranberry Klondike (cranberry reserve ice wine) offer a decadent finish to any meal.

A Toast to Heritage

The name The Fort Wine Co. pays homage to Fort Langley—the birthplace of British Columbia. Our peat bog soil is ideal for growing cranberries, just as it was centuries ago. Cranberries were once a key trade item, appreciated for their high vitamin C content, which helped prevent scurvy on long voyages.

Sip, Savour, and Stay Awhile

Our cozy tasting lounge, outdoor patio, and extensive grounds welcome guests year-round.

Cranberry Fun Fact: B.C. produces 12% of North America's cranberries and is Canada’s largest producer, with 90% of the harvest shipped to the U.S.A.

Fruit Wine Fun Fact: It takes more fruit to produce a litre of fruit wine than grape wine. For instance, while one pound of grapes yields a litre of wine, it takes two pounds of cranberries to produce the same amount!
